A glacier collapsed on Langtang Lirung at 08:37 NPT on 26 Aug, dammed the Lhende Khola with rock and ice, and the dam breached — sending a debris surge down the Bhote Koshi into the Trishuli. Actual demand across all beneficiary groups is 33,000–82,000 meals/day at peak — affected population, first responders, health facilities and, in phase 2, school feeding. This 3,000 is simply what a single unvetted vendor can be trusted to deliver on day one.
The derived scouting layer puts the largest reachable concentration in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot — 7 tier-1 cells within 6 km of the channel, 20,662 people in the highest-scoring cell alone. Bidur is the district HQ and is road-reachable; Rasuwa, holding 289 of the 466 casualties, is not.
The affected population is ~59,000–72,000, not the ~1,200 "displaced" that has been published.
